Common questions

Start here.

Is Dumplings Finder official?

No. Dumplings Finder is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any store or product manufacturer. Store and product names are used only to describe shopper-reported sightings.

Are sightings guaranteed?

No. Sightings are shopper-reported, and an item may be gone by the time someone reaches the store. Check the report time and details before making a trip.

Why did a sighting disappear?

Old sightings stop appearing in the active feed because it shows recent reports. This does not automatically erase the server record. A sighting may also be marked gone or removed by its author or the operator.

Why does the app ask for location?

Location helps show nearby sightings, suggest stores, place approved sightings on the map and give directions. In version 1.1.4, browsing-area controls are separate from notification settings, and you can choose an area manually.

Why does the app ask for photo access?

Photo access is used only when you choose to add a photo to a sighting. The app creates a reduced thumbnail for the report rather than storing the original full-resolution photo with the sighting.

How do I report a bad or misleading sighting or event?

Open the sighting or event and use its report option. The operator reviews reports and can remove inappropriate content. You can also block an author locally in version 1.1.4, or email support with the store, town, approximate posting time and problem. A local block does not remove that content for everyone.

How do I delete my account and data?

In version 1.1.4, open Profile > Delete account and data, then confirm. You do not need to send an email. Requests are processed within 7 days; posting pauses and you can return to that screen to check completion. Starting again after completion creates a new guest account and does not restore deleted data. If an older installed version lacks the option or you lost access to the original guest account, contact support for help verifying ownership.

Can I delete just one post?

In version 1.1.4, use Delete My Sighting on your own sighting, or Profile > Manage my shared data to find your sightings and events, including expired records. Removing one public record is not the same as deleting the account and all associated data.

How do I turn on the free Tuesday reminder?

Open Alerts, allow phone notifications and turn on Tuesday reminder. It runs locally every Tuesday at 3 PM and opens the posting screen when tapped. Each user must opt in on their own phone. Nearby remote alerts are unavailable in version 1.1.4.
